Photographing Las Vegas during the COVID-19 pandemic was an eerie and surreal experience, unlike anything the city had ever seen. Known for its bright lights, nonstop energy, and crowded streets, the Las Vegas Strip had fallen silent, with normally bustling casinos, hotels, and entertainment venues standing empty, their neon signs flickering in the void. Capturing this unprecedented moment felt like documenting a ghost town — a city built on spectacle, now devoid of its lifeblood. The contrast between Vegas’s usual vibrancy and the stark emptiness of the pandemic lockdown created a powerful narrative, as deserted streets, empty sidewalks, and closed establishments made the city feel frozen in time. Each image highlights the strange juxtaposition of the city’s larger-than-life persona against the quiet, almost apocalyptic emptiness, conveying a sense of isolation, vulnerability, and uncertainty in a city that never sleeps — now momentarily at rest.
