Estonia 120 Film Project #15

Price range: $650.00 through $1,100.00

Many years ago, my father Billy passed on to me his Hasselblad 500C 120 film camera. It had served him well during his forty-year career as a photographer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Unfortunately, the camera was lost when I moved to Paris in my early twenties. This year, I was gifted a Hasselblad 500CM, along with a simple note that read, “You will use this, I want to watch you create.” I have taken that to heart in this first series of true film prints from a recent trip to Estonia.

There is more to these images than meets the eye. I was meticulous, giving myself only one frame per shot—no bracketing. I relied solely on what my father had taught me about exposure as a child. Many of these shots required over an hour of waiting for the perfect light, carefully framing the composition, holding my breath, and then, with deliberate focus, pressing the shutter.
